Copycat Pizza Hut Pizza Sauce

Pizza Hut Pizza Sauce

Ok, so it is definately that time of year where I start to think about tomatoes and all the wonderful things I can do with them.  Yesterday, I decided to make and can pizza sauce using all the fresh herbs I have available in my garden.  So I pulled out my absolute favorite copycat Pizza Hut pizza sauce recipe and had at it.  The results were nothing short of amazing.  Here’s what you’ll  need for the best homemade pizza sauce ever:

1 15 oz can tomato sauce

1 T fresh oregano or 1/4 dried

1 T fresh basil or 1/4 dried

1 T fresh thyme or 1/4 dried

1/4 t garlic powder

1/4 t sea salt

1/8 t pepper

1 bay leaf

1/2 t lemon juice

1/4 t onion powder

1/2 t sucanant

Mix all ingredients in crock pot and cook on low for 4-6 hours until flavors blend.  This will make enouch sauce for approximately 2 pizzas.  I mulitplied the ingredients by 6 in order to can and ended up with seven 1/2 pint jars.  If you do not have a crock pot, mix all ingredients and heat until bubbling.  Then turn down heat and simmer covered for 30-60 minutes.  Enjoy!
